This diptych, depicting a sunset and sunrise over the ocean’s waters, is part of a big project from Recycle’s past called Null Island. The concept is based around the phenomenon of null coordinates – a location used by cartographical systems to find errors. Such errors might occur, for example, when a graphical defect is mistakenly read as a location by software, which cannot subsequently assign the object a geographical position. Instead, it defines the location using the coordinates “null, null”, or “0,0”.
